Update....

Sorry for the long delay. I was finally successful in getting a part-time evening gig. I will start tomorrow. The hourly pay takes me back to the days when I was in college. However, this extra income is solely for the purposes of paying down my Sallie Mae student loans and credit cards. This will be an extra payment in addition to the regular ones I normally make.

The second job would mean that I am giving up some parts of my social life or lack thereof. I am happy though that I am working hard to be free of my Sallie Mae and credit card debt by the end of 2007 if all goes as planned.

Good luck! I know that it can suck a whole lot to have a second job, but just think how much more fun it will be to be around you when you are not stressed from debt ;)

I think that when we are young is the time to take on all this crap - cause when we are 50 we will be too tired just from doing ONE job to take on another!

Congrats on the new gig, but mmMan, having to work at 2 must suck. If it gets you out of debt faster, then mo' power!

Try not to get burned out.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.
I am going to take it slowly and see what happens. They are aware that I work full-time during the day so scheduling is flexible.
I will keep everyone posted.

Hi there, really like your blog and am finding it very inspirational for me in my fight to pay off the cc's too. Can I ask- what did you end up getting for a 2nd job? I'm working fulltime too and am wondering what others are doing for extra income.

My second job is retail in a major mall. So far it is going great. I work 2 nights during the week and Saturday or Sunday.

Last holiday season 05 I did the same thing for about nine weeks. If there is a major retailer near you then you should try to get something for the holiday season. This will be for a few weeks, that way you get used to working juggling both jobs.
