Gyms.....

are not in business to help people loose weight and or make them healthier. Gyms are in business to make a profit whether or not you loose weight. I recently decided I wanted to go back to the gym. I could go to my old gym or the new fancy one that opened up close to home. Low and behold last night I called the new snazzy gym to ask a simple question. Instead of getting a simple answer, I got a rather car-salesman-snake-pitch to come in and sign up. For now, I will stick to my dvds that I have at home. No gyms for me, since I am not looking to sign a contract with anyone.

i feel your pain. keep looking around though. these days there's so much competition that many gyms don't require a contract. check to see if your employer has a relationship w/ any particular gyms -- perhaps you could get a discount!

I find that most gym chains (like Ballys) have a serious car salesman pitch. It's scary how aggressive they can be. I could tell ya a story, but I don't wanna write a post in your comments section! LOL!

I ended up getting a membership (no contract) with a gym near my job. It's across the street so it's real convenient.

It's super expensive though...but for the first time in my life I actually USE the membership.

I've heard some true horror stories about gyms and their over the top sign up tactics....

I mean I know that without pain there's no gain but ummm the last place I expect is to feel said pain is in my pockets!!!

I hear you TBB. I just canceled my gym membership a few months back. I was just wasting 75 dollars a month. Ouch!! I should get off my lazy ass and run with my dog anyway. Better for both of us and better for my wallet. LOL.
I have Billy Blanks (?) DVD that I have been meaning to try out. I will, as soon as I am done with school for this semester
