My Clothes Rant

I just dropped $99.99 on a business suit that was originally priced at $360.00. I love a good sale. Am now the proud owner of two business suits that 'fit'.

Let me get this off my chest. I hate shopping for clothes, especially pants. Why? Well, am bottom heavy, literally. WTF can't I find separates that fit someone who is bottom heavy but only stands at 5 feet and some change. I do not want my jacket to hang all the way down and hide my hands. Not because I wear a petite size that does not mean am a size 6 or even a damn 8. Why can't clothing designers get it together? Should I start mailing mini cocoa cola bottles to them so they can see what I look like.

WTF do the stores no longer carry proper separates. I do not want a suit that comes together. I want them SEPARATE, so I can get a size 10 or 12 jacket and a size 14 pants. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Macys has the nerve to have the big ass sign talking about 'oh the size has to be the same on top and bottom you cannot mix and match'.

Ok, I admit I used to go into some stores and switch them up when no one was looking. I would put the sizes together the way I want them. Then I would get to the register and chat up the cashier and hope she did not notice a size 10 jacket with a 14 pant. AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH. Guess some smart aleck started paying attention, so now they have the big numbers attached to each piece. Well maybe they should make separates that looked as fly as the suits and I would not be forced to screw up your inventory. It's not like I was stealing it, I just wanted to get a suit without having to spend an arm and a leg at the tailor.

Shopping for pants is such a headache, this would explain why I own 10 tops for every pant in my wardrobe.

I definitely feel you on that, I hate jackets that are too long it looks like you are playing dress up. I have gotten some nice suits from JC Penney. One is a bisou bisou suit They were sold as separates-you grab the jacket from one place and find the pants on another rack. The Worthington collection is good. I probably paid 60 bucks each for those. JC Penney is good for work clothes and you won't be looking like you.....shop at JC Penney, I know some folk turn up their noses at that store.

Getting clothes altered can be pretty cheap - especially if you live in a major city and you're just getting sleeves shortened. Don't give up!

I wish I could say I feel your pain but uhhh...that might sound weird. LOL. But I've heard that argument many times before. Clothing designers have no love for the bottom heavy women. Damn them! I got love for y'all though :) *that was my man comment for the night*...Coke bottles in the mail huh?

ha ha ha! Tired you know you are wrong for doing that but I feel you girl. Do you know I was fitted for my best friends wedding and the lady told me that I was a six on the top and a ten on the bottom. Girl I was like what tha hell. I have a long lean torso and thighs hips and booty for days. Does that make sense? Well I guess we have to work with what we have so you work the hell out of that suit and I am going to rock that dress like it is going out of style.

LOL TRUST ME I feel your pain. However, I got a suit from Sears recently that came as separates so I think that's where I'll be getting my suits going forward. My jacket/shirt size is about two sizes smaller than my bottom so it's a MUST that I get separates. I ain't got time to be altering stuff.

I agree on the JC Penney deal for work clothes, you can buy suits as seperates, and they seem to have enough sizes for us curvy gals!

Being that I'm bottom heavy as well I know how you feel...sad that we can't find a good suit we have to sacrifice it being too big in the bottom making us look huge or at the top still making us look huge..great.

Probably a reason why I don't wear suits too often LOL

This is my problem, too. In some lines, I'm as many as 3 sizes bigger in pants than in tops.

I mostly wear separates.

I wish I hated shopping for clothes, I'd save a lot of money. Although I really do hate shopping for jeans, they never look right.

I have a friend who works for a fashion magazine, so even though she gets wicked discounts she's under pressure to look like a model every day. Better to work from home :)
