Get an extra job this holiday season

The holiday season is upon us. Now is the time to get a seasonal job to help with debt reduction. Try hotjobs, career builder, or go to your store of choice and fill out an application in person.

It is totally worth it. I should know, I did it.

man I really want to get a holiday job at Barnes & Noble or Borders, but I don't want to haggle with them over the ACTUAL holidays, as I've already made out-of-town plans. How do you handle this?

I wish I had the time/extra energy for a second job.

While I could certainly use the extra money, truth is after I leave this one, I gotta throw on my mommy cap and head home to regulate shyt.

Only 11 more years to go before my youngest is 18.

Damn that's a long time from now...

Sistah Ant your welcome.

Mya in my experience they will ask you for your availability. You just l let them know you can work , what days and time.

Ms. Behaving trust me I know it is not easy. Am single without kids and there are times am so tired, I cannot imagine being a wife, mother and all that while working the two jobs.

I have a friend who does it, by working the extra job two weekends a month. Flexibility with the part-time second job is key.

FOR ONCE IN MY LIFE, I WANT TO HAVE FINANCIAL FREEDOM! JUST FOR A DAY! I do not have bad habits, no drinking, smoking, gambling, etc. My job is working at a nursing home. I provide so much attention, care and love to the elderly at the nursing home. Many are left there and forgotten by their families. When I hold their hand and look into their eyes, I can feel their loneliness. They need that human touch and attention. I buy them small gift to brighten their day.

I have good kids living home still going to school. I help them with tuition money/book fees. I help my married son and his wife by providing free childcare for my grandson two days a week. This helps save daycare money. I am very active in my daughter's booster club and help raise funds for her high school's basketball team. I spend time with my aunt who recently lost her husband after 57 yrs of marriage. I grieve and cry with her, provide comfort and take her out to run her errands. I am planning to paint her kitchen in hopes of lifting her spirts. I do genealogy work also. Many families from upnorth request pictures of their loved ones tombstones, which I get and send to them.
You see the list of good deeds is long. I know God blesses me with good health despite having cancer. But, it sure would help if I can have a little bit of cash money. I got myself in a jam at the bank and my balance is $-153.00 This will eat at my small social security ceck. Can someone give me a solution? Getting a second job is out of the question. Because I am on social security disability, I am only allowed to earn a certaina mont a month. Thank you for any suggestions.

Great reminder. There are definitely people that should take advantage of a second part time job during the holiday season.

Another great rule to follow...Don't use credit cards for gifts. If you can't pay cash for it, don't buy it. Your wallets and bank accounts will thank you come January and February.

i typically work 3-4 nights a week at one of the book stores mentioned above. it was rough at first but after a month or so into it, i'm in the swing of things. i'm LOVING those extra paychecks. i was able to hit my e-fund goal much sooner, and will have my credit card debt paid off that much faster.
