Are you kidding me?

As most of you know my part-time gig is in retail. One thing I like about the job is that it I notice things about shoppers that make me go, huh! most times its WTF!

I actually had three customers recently in one day that wrote checks for their purchases. What is with the whole writing check thing at stores? Helllooooo, are you doing it because you think you have a float or something? because guess what Einstein, we are converting that bad boy to an electronic transaction.

Why are people still walking around with their social security cards in the wallet? Seriously, this is 2007 and you cannot go a week without hearing about identity theft. And here you are walking around with your checkbook and social security card. WTF!

If you have a store card that declines this means you are carrying a balance. Huh!! you mean that you did not pay off for those socks and shirts, so you are now gonna pay 23%. WTF

Am no saint I have store cards, but do not carry a balance on them. Frankly, they are not used very often, maybe once every couple of months, if that often at all.

when i was working retail, i used to actually ask my customers if they knew carrying their SSN on them was risky. i can't believe people still do that. if i have my SSN on me it's because i'm going to my first day at the job... :-)

Yikes, I can't believe people still carry their SSN cards with them. Same as Sistah Ant, here, only on the first day at the job!

Sadly I just took my S card out of my wallet like a month ago :) I know, I know, but i honestly forgot it was in there :) THe check writing thing I can't explain, I think the float idea is a good theory though

I should get a PT job in retail just for the pure comedy. You crack me up. I think check writers should be stabbed with their own pens.

Ms. Mini Ducky & Sistah Ant: I just look at them like they are crazy, I do not say a thing. You should see how their wallets are packed with unneccesary crap.

Looking at RAD with the evil eye. glad you took it out.

BK Diva: I own them two, more than one. But when it declines, that is a problem.

Ms. Behavin: They might as well walk around with a big old sign that tells the identity thieves come get me.

Single Ma: LMAO @ stabbing the check writers with their own pen. Girl, each time they pull out that check book I give them the evil eye. The pt job can get its own blog with the amount of crap that goes on.

I hate when I see folks carrying their social security card in their wallet. I know its not my identity thats at risk, but it just irks me.Its like crawling across a busy highway on your hands and knees

Ummm I write checks.. BUT only at the grocery store.. :) It's easier for Umm Support purposes!

So I resent the stab check writers with their pen comment.. Hpmh LOL

They still allow people to write checks at the store? That's crazy . . . not to mention it pisses off people behind you in line. Why not just use a debit card? It's so much easier.

I used to work at bath and body works, on a given day there are at least 20 nasty people who come in just to use our sink! The best part is you are suppose to offer lotion and shyt to them, which you apply. this means you have to touch their nasty skin.
Have you ever had those check writers return their merchandise within two or three days..think about it. They write a check and turn on return EVERYTHING for a complete refund. It is a complete rip off! Unless the store has a policy that states that the merchandise cannot be returned for seven business days when a check is written.

Wow@check writers...I haven't seen anyone write a check in a store in YEARS! Thought that was why the CHECK CARD exists!

People who carry their SS card in their wallet are obviously not in their right mind.

I used to work in a department store...I can't tell you how many times we had declined checks (electronic deductions)...and customers complained about it...I just wanted to tell them that it won't go through if you don't have the money in the account! I guess they just didn't get that part.

again, just because you use a debit card does not make you immune to identity theft. And if cashiers want to give me the evil eye, so be it. If I notice it, I will bring to their attention and their managers attention that I noticed it. If your store accepts checks, then you should not begrudge people who are attempting to use an accepted form of payment.
