Cooking at home really is alot cheaper

I just spent $14.78 at the grocery store. With the recipes I have in mind, I will have enough food for a week. Granted that one recipe calls for rice, and I already have that at home. I do not need to order takeout or buy lunch when I get to work next week.

Good move. I'd love to be able to do that, but I haven't been able to find the time to do that yet. One weekend I'm going to do that.

I'm always on the look for good recipes that are cheap. Would you mind posting the recipes, or e-mail them to me at ntbeachnc at yahoo dot com? Thanks!

Organized am only able to do it because am home now during the day. When I was working the day job, cooking was like once per month if that much.

Ntbeachnc, the recipes are mostly West Indian stuff my mom taught me. I can't exactly write them out becaue I would not be able to give you amounts for each ingredient. I just use a bit of this and a bit of that.

Yea, it hurts the pocket to make those Costco runs every 3rd month and spend $200, but I save so much on food that it works out. I had to crunch the numbers 4-5 times before it made sense to me though. Keep cooking and you'll see how much money you have left at the end of the month.

LOL girl that is the BEST thing. Operation Bring Lunch has fully begun for me. After doing my numbers for July I spent WAY TOO DAMN MUCH ON LUNCH. I'll be taking my lunch to work EVERYDAY for the next 2 months!!!!

I started cooking and freezing food, makes it go even longer because as a single persone living alone I found I was wasting a lot of food because it goes bad.

I spend so much it's rediculous, I would love to cook our meals and bring our lunches, I am really going to have to actively work on this. The kids are so picky though, that's part of the problem.
